The name 2much was initially adopted for the group but over time they became dissatisfied with the name. In the summer of 1999, during a conversation with friends to coin a new stage name for their group, Peeshaun made a funny sound that got everyone laughing. He was asked what the funny new word meant and he claimed he had no idea; that it was just one of his spontaneous inspirations.
