WAPI- Naija Carnival
The British Council creative program WAPI creates a platform for the fusion of words and pictures in the form of poetry, photography, graffiti and fashion.
WAPI, which stands for Words and Pictures, is a British Council initiative that was launched in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2006 and now operates in Nigeria. It’s a platform for underground artists – whatever their medium – to meet and compete and show what they can do.
‘WAPI gives young artists a peaceful and safe venue to perform and engage with an audience,’ she adds. ‘It’s also an opportunity for the audience to listen to something new and be part of a creative community.’
